Cannot enable SCSI Pass Through (SPT) on Windows 7

    Hello,

I have read the help page regarding Windows 10 protected folders and Windows Defender (I do not have it running & I do not have these options on Windows 7), I have tried running CD Ripper as Admin, I am an administrator, I have restarted the program several times and I cannot get SPT to work.

After every program restart it is still on Windows Internal [for limited accounts] and the home splash screen complains that it is limited.

I have CDs where I would like to use the C2 function etc. -- I just sharpied a semi-functional CD as a sacrifice and I would not like that to be in vain -- what are the steps required to get this option to change on Windows 7?

    Thank you

Try restarting your computer in safe mode with networking.

      Hey Spoon,

      Thanks for the reply.

I did that and there's still no change. The home screen says "Windows Defender is restricting dBpoweramp form accessing system" (which cannot be true as it's disabled), and the SPT still fails to enable no matter how many times I reboot the program.

      What's next to try?

It means your system is set to run dBpoweramp and cd ripper in a restricted account, I do not know how you have set that, but it is specific to your system.

Perhaps look at group policy editor.

Would there be anything outside of actual Group Policy potentially at play?
I do understand Windows Group Policy, luckily. I can both confirm that I did not edit it, nor do I have any active group policies configurations in gpedit.msc.

It's a personal install where I'm the admin. Vanilla Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 (retail) with some games on it.

What are the refund steps if this cannot be resolved? I just purchased a couple days back based on http://www.dbpoweramp.com/db-versions.htm showing the registered having C2, which I could not test functionality for in the Trial.

Is there anything outside of Group Policy to try?

I have familiarity with Group Policy, luckily, and I can confirm that I have not made configurations and that there aren't any active in gpedit.msc.

Okay. Resolved -- I reinstalled Windows 7 entirely.

I'm gonna put a hard vote on all the nonsense anti-cheat root kits that go around the game industry nowadays as standards. I had no serious customization or personalization on this box as it's a gaming machine to me -- I compute on a different device.

Hopefully this thread is useful for someone else.
