    Unable to detect CD Drive(s)

I am running dBpoweramp v17.2 (1) does not see any of my CD drives with a "Looking for disc..." message on the main UI and "No drive selected" in the Preferences.

I have modified the CD / DVD System Setting to load dBpoweramp when an Audio CD is inserted, the app starts at the main UI but I'm unable to rip due to the program thinking there's no drive!

I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.2 if this is any help.

    See:

macOS Catalina (or newer) introduces per program security access settings, normally OS X will ask when the program tries to access something if it should be granted permission. This security setting can also be set at a later date, click the Apple menu icon: System Preferences >> Security & Privacy >>

I just started getting this behavior on W10. Any ideas?

Does Windows 10 detect the CD is loaded, if you look at the drive in explorer (if expand drive, it should say Track01, Track02, etc)?

Yes.. windows sees it, and can open it to play in VLC, etc.

Look at your security software, or:

Microsoft have updated Windows Defender to include an option called "Controlled folder access" this basically limits every program from accessing key areas of the system unless permitted on an individual program basis. By default this option is off for Windows, however if it is enabled you should add the programs

So - it must have been some Windows update, but I now have to run the program as Administrator.. THEN it sees the drive. SOLVED!
