Dynamic Naming Assistance (Artist, Compilations, Multi-Disc, etc.)

    Greetings,

Assistance is needed with dynamic naming, for both CD Ripper and Batch Converter (r16.8). I've done my homework and haven't yet figured out the one programmed string to accomplish the following outcomes:

    CD Ripper

    Album Artist, NO Multi-Disc:
    [albumartist]\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [tracktitle]
    Album Artist, YES Multi-Disc:
    [albumartist]\[albumtitle]\\[discnumber]-[tracknumber] [tracktitle]

    Compilation, NO Multi-Disc:
    Compilations\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]
    Compilation, YES Multi-Disc:
    Compilations\[albumtitle]\[discnumber]-[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]

Artist (NO Album Artist or Compilation):
    Various Artists\[album title\[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]

NO Album Artist, Compilation or Artist:
    Unknown Artist\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [tracktitle]

    Batch Convert

    (Files with no tags):
    Unknown Artist\originalfilename

    Album Artist, NO Multi-Disc:
    [albumartist]\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [tracktitle]
    Album Artist, YES Multi-Disc
    [albumartist]\[albumtitle]\\[discnumber]-[tracknumber] [tracktitle]

    Compilation, NO Multi-Disc:
    Compilations\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]
    Compilation, YES Multi-Disc:
    Compilations\[albumtitle]\[discnumber]-[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]

Artist (NO Album Artist or Compilation):
    Various Artists\[album title\[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]

    Many thanks for any help!

For ripping, this will work (replace backslashes with forward slashes if you are using Mac version)

    [MAXLENGTH]240,[IFCOMP]Compilations\[album]\[IFMULTI][disc]-[][track] [artist] - [title][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[IFMULTI][disc]-[][track] [title][][]

These two will require some if-then language I haven't used above. My approach would be to manually enter Various Artists for Album Artist when ripping to make this work with above. By the way, the above string will use ALBUM ARTIST if available, and if not, use ARTIST (on noncompilations)
Artist (NO Album Artist or Compilation):
    Various Artists\[album title\[tracknumber] [artist] - [tracktitle]

same...manually enter album artist and artist to make work.
    NO
    Album Artist, Compilation or Artist:
    Unknown Artist\[albumtitle]\[tracknumber] [tracktitle]

Thank you garym. This does help in forming the right string, with how you placed it together. I'm hopeful the community can jump in with some flag know-how to make it a completely programmed string without the need to create profiles, which I've used in the past. They work of course, but would like to remove this extra step, if possible...

Re: Dynamic Naming Assistance (Artist, Compilations, Multi-Disc, etc.)

        Hi,

I am new to dbpoweramp - have ripped a few CDs and have been very pleased with the results and how quick the app is.

I have a compilation multi 3 CD set which I am ripping to MP3.

At the moment the artist and song are both in the 'Title' column on dbpoweramp. Is there any way the app can split the information leaving track number and song in 'title' and the artist in the 'artist' column?

Apologies if this has been covered already?

        many thanks, :-)

Right click on one of the tracks in CD Ripper >> Detect Artists from Track Titles

it relies on a standard separator to be used.

Thats excellent, thank you, it works.

One other question, because the listing is 01 Singer - Song, so when it seperates the artist reads 01 Singer.

Is there a shortcut to clearing the numbers? Or to leave the numbers on the title column for the songs?

            Many thanks Spoon. :-)

You would have to manually do that.
