Bronzed CD ripping

Have been unlucky recently with bronzed CDs from eBay (PDO pressings) so quick question: if one or more drives are unable to accurately rip a disc is there a chance that there might be a drive that possibly could rip, or is the disc simply too damaged for want of a better word?
