What exact error messages or behavior are you seeing?

          Open finder and check:

          /Volumes/USB HD

          that this location exists.

              See:

macOS Catalina (or newer) introduces per program security access settings, normally macOS will ask when the program tries to access something if it should be granted permission. This security setting can also be set at a later date, click the Apple menu icon: System Preferences >> Privacy & Security >> Full

If this does not help, try setting the rip to location as a local HDD.

I just changed privacy permission as per your link.
