Perhaps the files are read only, or have security settings set to no write.

      Spoon,

This drivea me crazy as the album plays and most of the files in the album can be readily edited. The files are not read only as I have checked for this. Do you have any suggestions as to what I might do so that I can edit these and not get that window popping up which I copied into my original thread post.

Happy New Year and thank you very much,

Could you please change the file extension to .flac for a test?

          Dat Ei,

I do not understand your comment as all of my music files have the extension of ".flac".

          Regards,

The screen shot shows the extension .fla.

The short path name is shown in the error message, the real file will be .flac

Thanks Spoon. I just wish I knew why I am not able to edit these files. I simply cannot find anything wrong with the files and I do not know what I am missing.

Is it possible that these files are locked by different application? Did you open those files shortly before you have tried to edit them? Did you try to edit those files after a reboot of your system?

                    Dat Ei,

No is the answer to your question. However, I believe the locking mechanism may be an excessively long path length which blocks editing in Windows. I do not wish to state for certain as of yet, but I am leaning in this direction and I have made some major advances in my editing.

                    Thanks,
