Can someone please explain how this could occur with a brand new CD? Could it simply be the drive that I'm using or is it dBpoweramp itself that's causing this issue?

Could be drive, could be manufacturing defect. Ive ripped 1000s od CDs, and ocassionally a brand new cd will be a problem. Often solved by cleaning cd and or using a different cd drive to rip.
