    FLAC Compression Level 8 Question

Is the only downside to using FLAC Compression Level 8 the encoding time? No loss of quality either? I know it's lossless nonetheless but just want to be sure.

Correct. No loss of quality. All FLAC files when played back will be decoded to the original PCM data stream (that is, bit perfect back to the CD that you ripped). FLAC compression level has no impact on this. And even the extra encoding time for level 8 is not anything that you'll likely notice with any modern computer. Likely a few seconds longer.
