Took me a while to figure out how to rip multi CD's as the multi preview told me it would output disc number but didn't

Yes, that is correct.

And if you look at the naming scheme it shouldn't? So why does the preview show this?

Sometimes the disc number is included in the album name retrieved by the metadata database. Have a look at the metadata.

CD Ripper >> Green options button >> CD Ripper Options >> Metadata & ID Tag >> Multi-CD Add Disc to Album

because this is set to '[album], Disc [discnum]' then it is already in the album name
