Are there compatibility problems changing from iTunes to dbpoweramp for ripping CDs?

I'm new to this so I might not be using the correct terminology.

I have been ripping CDs to a music library on a Synology Disk Station NAS using iTunes (Apple lossless format). iTunes seems a bit flaky. After ripping for about an hour, it stops working. Sometimes I have to insert a CD several times before iTunes asks if I want to import it.

I'd like to try dbpoweramp, but don't want to start over or cause any problems with the existing music library.

Can someone share their experience with me? Any tips or warnings are appreciated.

In case it matters, I use the Synology Audio Station or the Naim phone app to manage playback.

No problem. Just start using dbpa for new rips.
