Derek is not his actual name. Derek and the Dominos is just a made up band name.
I would put The following
ALBUMARTIST: Eric Clapton
ALBUMARTISTSORT: Clapton, Eric
ARTIST: Derek & the Dominos
ARTISTSORT: Derek & the Dominos

Hi Paul,

I would also use as garym suggested. As you go for accurate naming, I'd just mention that I have never seen Derek And The Dominos written with an ampersand, and both Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs and Live At The Filmore use, Derek And The Dominos.

I use the ampersand in the STYLE: 'R&B' though.

I have been ripping some Steely Dan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steely_Dan) CDs recently.

For ARTIST and ARTIST SORT, I have used:

Steely Dan

Steely Dan

But for ALBUM ARTIST (and SORT), would you use:

Steely Dan

Steely Dan

or

Walter Becker; Donald Fagen

You're joking right? Steely Dan is the bands name, not a first and last name (and the name was taken from the name of an oversized, steam-powered strap-on sex toy mentioned in the William Burroughs famous book "Naked Lunch"). Would you sort Pink FLoyd as Floyd, Pink.
