The above should be a jpeg showing tracks *not* in folders and folders *with* tracks. Apparently dbpoweramp is not constructing folders for most of my rips. In win explorer this is where the split occurs; right after the last folder "Zubin Mehta." I also re-ripped a CD where there were missing tracks as you requested and found that there was no folder created for that CD but that all of the tracks did show up as separate entries in my Music folder. As you can tell from the position of the cursor on the upper right in the jpeg there are a very large number of tracks in that main folder. This disorganization of these files, along with the problem of missing tracks in some files , is very perplexing.

Please let me know if the attachment doesn't work. Thanks

        As requested.

Supposedly these rips should have gone to a folder in Music called THE ACADEMY OF ANCIENT MUSIC. However, there is no such folder on H or I. The individual tracks are there but bundled in with all the others as in the screen shot I sent earlier. I use jRiver to play back my FLAC files and it finds less than half of the tracks I ripped from this CD.

Spoon asked for your naming string. I think he thought of your naming scheme, something like that:

          [IFVALUE]album artist,[tags]album artist, - [],[IFCOMP]Compilations[][IF!COMP][artist][][]\[album]\[IFMULTI][disc]-[][track] [title]

Did you define a naming scheme for each and every converter you have used within multi encoder? Could you please disable ripping to temporarely files just for a test (see CD Ripper options)?

            I don't have a clue. I don't write code. I used whatever the defaults were when I began ripping back w/version 14.

Maybe you mean under Naming: "Album Artist\Album\TrackNum Artist - Title"

And under Output To: H:\ (or I)\Music\Source Filename

Not sure what you mean by "disable ripping to temporary files." I don't find that command under CD Ripper Options or anywhere else.

Did you configure this within each and every encoder you use with multi encoder?

See "CD Ripper Options" -> "Tags & Filenames" -> "When Ripping". Please select "Rip direct to final filenames" and do a test.

Both rips with the Multi Encoder are FLAC files. As far as I know the encoder is configured with its default settings. One rip is supposed to go to I:\Music and the other to H:\Music. Changing the CD Ripper Options results in all tracks being correctly copied to I. However, there are still missing files on H. I:|Music shows under the Path box but is grayed out. There is a folder on I - George Frideric Handel - that contains all the tracks and a similar folder on H with missing tracks.

How can we help if you don't give concrete information to us, but speculate about your own settings?

So the only difference between the two file locations should be the drive letter but not the rest of the path?

About which path box you are talking? The one in the main window of dBpa?

Which files are missing? Do they have a longer filename than the existing ones? Could it be a restriction of the maximum path length?

The Path and Naming define the filepath and filename for your output files.

If you use the Multi-Encoder, for each encoder select:
Settings >> Click the drop-down arrow in Output To >> Select Edit Dynamic Naming (the dBpoweramp Dynamic Naming window opens).

Copy and paste the Base Location text and the Dynamic Naming text in this thread.

                      I:\Music\
                      [origfilename]

                      and

                      H:\Music\
                      [origfilename]

The missing tracks on this example are 4,6,7,11, and 12. Some have long file names, others don't. This is true for one drive only, as I noted earlier:
"There is a folder on I - George Frideric Handel - that contains all the tracks and a similar folder on H with missing tracks."

Are you sure [origfilename] is the right tag for the naming during ripping? I can't imagine, where the [origfilename] should come from?

You would be best using the CD Ripper naming string, so on multi encoder >> click Settings for the codec >> Output To click drop arrow and select 'Edit dynamic naming' then click Examples and choose 'Default CD Ripper naming'

are not the defaults. Start using the default CD Ripper naming, as Spoon has suggested.

I really appreciate all the help I've received here but I'm about to give up on dbpoweramp. The naming suggestion seems to work but there are so many more problems to address it would probably be best to just start over and re-rip everything, perhaps with another ripper like EAC which I've used rarely in the past even though it's clumsy. I still have the problem of missing tracks in many rips (maybe most rips. I'm afraid to look!). Some recent rips have folders but they're empty. Then there's the screenshot I posted earlier showing some folders *with* tracks and many tracks *not* in folders. And in Windows Explorer and Jriver I can only see folders in alphabetical order up to the letter M. Everything N and beyond is non-existent. I'm running Windows 10 on a fairly up-to-date desktop with plenty of memory, etc. Anyway, these problems started with version 14 but it was only when I upgraded to 16.2 that they became evident. If anyone can suggest a cure for all this I'd be grateful.
