multi encoder problem after upgrade to 16.2

After upgrade, now getting "ERROR unable to open file H:\Music" for two backup drives "H" and "I". Efforts to edit or change the settings for the drives have not been successful. As I recall, the "Output to" specs were simpler in earlier versions. Any assistance to get this resolved will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have also discovered a large number of missing tracks on the CDs I ripped with an earlier version (14, I think. About 2000 CD's!) This is a much more serious problem than the multi encoder issue.

The issue is there is a * in the filename which is not allowed on Windows. However it should be automatically changed from * to another character, open dBpoweramp Control Centre >> Advanced Settings >> Filename Restricted Characters >> click 'Set' then click 'Restore Default' and click Ok, Ok, Close.

Excellent! That works. Now the issue is what happened to the missing tracks? In some cases entire CDs are missing. I know I have ripped every CD in my collection: I watch each rip as it happens and never see tracks that were skipped, etc. I also catalog my rips as they happen to verify that each CD got ripped completely. And almost always rip to iTunes at the same time and there appear to be no missing tracks in those files. The missing tracks appear to be random except if there are missing tracks one of them will often be track 8, if that helps. Really stumped by this and not looking forward to re-ripping my entire collection! Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

There were two entries following the above which have disappeared. One was from Spoon and a follow-up from me. Can they be restored?

New problem. Thanks to your suggestion re: filename characters I can now rip CDs. Here's an example of the info after a rip. Note: I have ripped with the multi encoder on and with it off. Everything looks ok until you go to find the files. They are nowhere to be found!! I don't know if this is a Windows problem (although I'm not aware of any changes being made in the Win setup or DB, save for those already noted). The files do not show up in a search, under Windows Explorer, or in jRiver. Definitely need help with this one!

Open file explorer (not internet explorer) and paste onto the address bar:

                  H:\Music\Ravel\Bolero-Rapsodie Espagnole-Pavane-Alborada Del Gracioso-Daphnis et Chloe(Suite no.2)\

Does it show an empty folder?

That works. The files are there. How do I get dbpoweramp and jriver to recognize them? And would this have anything to do with the missing files?
I'm not much of a computer geek so I need all the help I can get and I appreciate what you've done so far.

dBpoweramp does not need to recognize them, as it is CD Ripper, it creates files, it does not play them.

You would have to add drive H:\Music to the JRiver's location of indexing, you are best asking on their forum on how to do this.

Thanks. Here's another question: when I look at what's in my Music folder with WE or jriver I see that some entries are in folders while others are not; they are listed by track * , i.e. all track 1 entries are followed by all track 2 entries, etc. Why does this happen and how can I get these into folders?

I will try to pass along an example w/in the next 4-5 days. In the meantime, I have been exploring the missing tracks problem. I selected an entry with multiple tracks, identified the missing ones, and re-ripped just those tracks expecting them to be incorporated into the folder. No such luck. I am unable to locate those rips anywhere in spite of the fact that dbpoweramp showed them as successful rips. Perhaps they are being diverted to another location but I'm not able to find them. The same rips in iTunes are complete.

For a disc with missing tracks, rip the disc, then immediately re-rip it, CD Ripper will show an overwrite page with the full filename and path.

You should be able to browse to this location and locate the tracks.
