    ID Tag

Can anybody tell me how to edit an ID tag to Arabic language? I tried with dbpoweramp V16.2, but only accepts English.

in .WAV. I'm using the "Edit ID Tag" from the pull down menu when you right click on the file. I have been able to type in the title, artist, etc. an Arabic, but when i hit "OK" everything goes back to "?????"

        Re: ID Tag

I am able to edit and save Arabic no problem, for wav, flac and mp3.

In Configure dBpoweramp >> Audio Codecs List/Options >> Wave ID Tagging
there are 8 options listed. What do you have set for all 8 options?

OK, change ID3v2 text encoding to Unicode-16 and try to edit and save again.

Please post here with the outcome.

OK. Not sure why it is not working for you, as it works fine for me.

I do not know what to suggest, sorry. You will have to wait for Spoon to advise you here.

A long shot, but have you tried rebooting after setting ID3v2 text encoding to Unicode-16?

I've been thinking, so I have more questions for you.

                      What is your Platform/OS?

What is you OS language setting?

Where exactly, are you seeing the "?????"?

Ok. I'll try to reboot and get you the answer after work. Thank you for your help.

Ok. Here is what I found out. After changing the text encoding to Unicode-16, I selected "Properties" When i right clicked on the file (in Explorer folder), here is what I found:

In the (ID-Tag) tab: Arabic as I modified, no problem:

In the (Detail) tab: every word in Arabic became ???

Also in window explorer, in the file artist/title columns read: ???

                          I have window10 operating system.

It looks to me I was able to Edit the ID Tag, but that information did not carry over to the detail tab and window explorer folder. Probably I have a wrong setting somewhere?

The details and explorer views, Windows is reading the ID Tags, and Windows can only read the LIST chunk which is not Unicode. However your wave file is also tagged with an ID3 chunk which is Unicode.

Good, you are now able to save tags correctly. Changing ID3v2 text encoding to Unicode-16 has fixed the issue, as the original ANSI character setting is limited.

In dBpoweramp related windows/pages i.e. File Properties >> ID-Tag tab or the Edit ID-Tag window, the Arabic text is displayed. I can also confirm that the tags display ok, in foobar2000.

However, you are correct in thinking there is a display only problem in Windows. In File Explorer or File Properties >> Details tab, wav file tags with Arabic text are displayed with ???? characters.

Please note, that this is not the case for flac or mp3 files:

Maybe Spoon can tell us why the display issue with wav files.

... I see Spoon has posted above.

Spoon, just to confirm then, setting ID3v2 text encoding to Unicode-16, is the correct solution for languages such as Arabic and no other settings need changing?
