Why is there a large file size difference between apple MAC and Windows for CD ripping
There is a difference of GB vs MB of data in the ripped file.
Is there something lost in the Windows ripped file compared to the apple ripped file?
I have setup my MAC and PC with the exact same CD ripping settings on dBpoweramp.
However, there is a large difference of file size between the Windows and MAC ripped CD.
Encoder: DVD
MAC: 4.76 GB
Windows: 779 MB
Encoder: CD
MAC: 497.73 MB
Windows: 497.73 MB
Why does the apple MAC settings for DVD bring the file size to 4.76 GB and the Windows brings it to 779 MB?
What causes the apple MAC rip to enlarge the file size so much?
Is there any benefit to rip a CD at the DVD encoder settings for sound quality?
What happens when Bit Depth is changed to 24 bit to the sound quality?
What happens when Sample rate is changed to 96 KHz to the sound quality?
What happens when the Channels are set to 5.1 surround?
When the CD is not ripped at these higher settings does it affect the playback on 5.1 surround 7.1 theatre equipment?
Should the CD always be ripped at the higher settings for Bit Depth Sample rate and Channels?
I have attached screen captures of both the apple mac and windows pc dBpoweramp windows for the different rip configurations.
Thank you so much for your help.
