    Rip as One

I have a couple of concert discs which I want to rip and playback on my device which supports gapless playback. So I have ripped the first disc to my NAS drive and then copied it to my device (Cowon Plenue D). When I played it back it was seamless but instead of the track list I get a Rip as One with no tracks listed. Is there a way to rip these discs, gapless, but still retain the track list?
    Thanks.

    Hey LX200GPS,

were there tracks on the original CD at all or was it just one track?

In case of several tracks you can rip the CD as a normal CD (do not use "rips as 1" function) resulting in one file for each track.

In case that it is just one track on the original CD, you have to split this single track into several tracks afterwards.

Okay thanks. There is a track list on the cd but I used the Rip as One option because I assumed you had to otherwise you get the gaps. In fact I'm pretty certain that was the only way I could get Pink Floyd Dark Side of Moon to play seamlessly a while back. Anyway I'll do as you suggest and see what happens. Will let you know how I get on.

If your device really supports gapless playback, then I see no reason, why you should rip as 1.

So what situations would you use the Rip as One option?

Sorry, I don't use "rip as 1" at all.

OK, no worries. Maybe someone else knows what it's for.

When you use a player that does not support gapless playback.

Thanks. It would appear that the jury is out as to whether my player supports gapless playback - some say it does whilst others are adamant it doesn't. I ripped the Van Morrison "It's too Late to Stop Now" as a normal cd and I swear I heard little clicks (pauses) during some track changes, but not all. Although you had to really concentrate to notice them. Ripped as One it was seamless but without the tracklist. Not sure which I prefer.

What is the player, the Cowon Plenue D?

The Cowon website states that gapless playback is supported on the Plenue D. Do you have the latest firmware v.1.17, installed?

That's right but the users, or at least some of them, say the opposite. There is a forum dedicated to the Plenue D on Head Fi. Ì downloaded the latest firmware last Thursday when I got the player. My experience is that it is pretty close to gapless but I still hear slight pauses between some tracks. However, this player sounds so good that it doesn't really bother me and I will rip the discs again as normal cd's so I can have the track listng. Just to recap; if you do rip using Rip as One then the album title will be "Rip as One" instead of the proper title and Dbpoweramp does not allow you to change this? Thanks.

If you have ripped a Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon CD with dBpoweramp and you aren't getting gapless playback on the Plenue D, I suggest you send an email to Cowon support. I would expect them to be interested in your findings/comments.

Regarding your Rip as One questions, I never use the feature so I cannot help you.
