Is there a way to shorten the track name when ripping a CD?

I use CD Ripper to rip a new CD as soon as I buy it and it works great however I would like to know if it's possible to modify the file name of the tracks being ripped?

Currently, when I rip a CD the resulting file name consist of a track number, the artists name, a dash, and the song title. For most everything that I play back my MP3's on this format is not a problem however I just purchased a new car that will allow me to play MP3's from a memory stick plugged into the car's USB port. Unfortunately, the car's system does not remove the artist's name when displaying the song title on the screen and the system ends up truncating the song title from the display so you cannot tell what the song title is many times. So far my only solution to this issue is to copy the album from my hard drive to the memory stick and then go in and manually rename the files on the track so that the format is track number, a dash followed by the song title. What I'd like to be able to do is eliminate the artist's name from the file name as I'm ripping a new CD. Is it possible to do this and if so can someone explain what I heed to do to set this up as my default naming convention in CD Ripper? Thanks.

Look at the Programmable Naming on the dBpowermap Naming webpage.

OK. I read the web page but I'm not sure how I would go about making this change. Can you explain this for me please?

If you don't want artist in the filename, try removing artist from your current Naming string.

Sorry that I have not gotten back to this sooner but I've had a lot of distractions lately. Also sorry that I 'm such a newbie on this stuff.

When I fire up CD Ripper in the lower left section of the screen I see "Naming" and when I press the "SET" button a dialog box pops up and within the "Base Location" field it currently displays the following:

          [IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[IFCOMP]Various Artists[][IF!COMP][artist][][]\[album]\[track] [artist] - [title]

When you say "remove the Artist from the current Naming string" do you mean changing the above string to the following string and do so within the "Base Location" field?

          [IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[IFCOMP]Various Artists[][IF!COMP][artist][][]\[album]\[track] - [title]

          Please let me know. Thanks.
