Secondary click on Mac to edit tags locks Finder

    Hi -
I hope that I am posting this in the correct forum.

I recently upgraded my mac mini to Sierra (macOS 10.12.1) and since that time I have been having a problem with secondary (right) clicking on a file to edit tags. Instead of bringing up the edit info box, the dbpoweramp main menu opens instead. Finder gets locked up for a minute or so. I Force quit dbpoweramp and tried again, still no edit info box. I was running version either version 15.1 or 15.3 (I forget), and updated to version 15.8. I moved 15.1 to trash, removed any reference to dbpoweramp in the library that i could find, and emptied the trash. I installed the registered version 15.8 and I am still experiencing the same behavior. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is anyone else having this issue? Conversion and Ripping work fine, however right clicking won't bring up the edit tag box.

We're sorry to hear about your experiences. We're currently investigating this issue, though we've been unable to reproduce it so far.

Possible solution: force mac OS to rebuild its services menu database-
Open terminal and type the following command:
          Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
If that does not help, I recommend that you try dBpoweramp R16 beta-
Current version: R16 beta 23 Download: .. Change log since R15: Added support for Apple AAC encoder Added Monkey's Audio codec Reworked Album Art downloader, can now enter keywords manually Removed obsolete AMG metadata provider, now using Discogs instead Refreshed ID Tag editor dialog, added auto complete M4A handling

Various parts of the app have been redesigned, it's possible that the problem no longer occurs.

Unfortunately, that did not work. Before I attempt ver 16, is there anything else that I should check? I am assuming that this started happening after I installed Sierra (from El Capitan). There is a possibility that something else was changed, but I doubt it. If it means anything, it won't allow me to drag and drop the dbpoweramp.app to the Dock (no option on the secondary click either), whereas I was able to before I upgraded.

I recommend installing R16 beta then.

In case R16 doesn't help, you later go back to latest R15 without losing any settings or other collateral damage.

Re: Secondary click on Mac to edit tags locks Finder

Hi - thanks for sticking with me through this.

I downloaded ver 16, and although I have never had a problem with any other versions of dbpoweramp, this one did not oad properly.
I dragged the icon over to the applications folder, and nothing happened I believe that other versions of dbp this would prompt the app to open. Not this time. I had moved version 15 to the trash and isssued the services command above.

When I tried to secondary click a file, select 'edt tags with dbpoweramp', the dbpoweramp icon appeared in the dock, and the dbpoweramp menu display (batch converter, music converter, cd ripper) opened with ver 16.0 beta. But still no edit tags display.

I think that something is blocking proper installation of the program. The only other recent change that I made to Mac was loading ISODSD on, bt I think that even then dbpoweramp was working (ver 15.3)

Nothing, unless MacOS added something new?
