Windows manipulates folder.jpg

I've following problem:

After ripping a CD I've a folder.jpg which was applied while ripping.
After a while folder.jpg disappears (it seems windows has set to invisible)
When confige windows to show hidden files in Explorer I see folder.jpg and an additional folder_small.jpg
Both of the files don't have the original pixel size created while ripping.

How to prevent windows manipulating the files in this way?

It is Windows Media Player which is doing this, there is an option somewhere inside it to disable such bad behaviour.
