Metadata when CD rippinng in .wav does not support unicode characters.

Hello just downloaded this software. I always store my CD rips as .wav and several of my CDs are Japanese. Unfortunetly when ripping to a wav file, the Japanese characters in the metadata are replaced with question marks. The files and folders don't do this and this issue does not occur when I use flac. However I would prefer to use wav because I use flac files for songs I bought digitally. Its just how I keep things organized. I do have a software called mp3tag which works to correct the issue. It's just a small inconvenience.

We write two tag types to wave files, ID3v2 (which do support unicode) and WAVE LIST tags, which do not.

Your application is only reading the latter, as tagging support for wave is not well implemented.

I have used several different applications and none of them have been able to read the ID3v2 tags. Is there a way to check if theyre their like in a hex editor? Or is there a way to disable the WAVE LIST tags and only use the latter?

Disabling would not help, if applications are not able to read ID3v2 tags.

The only option is to choose a different audio format your programs can read the unicode tags from, such as FLAC.

The applications I use can read read unicode tags of wav files just not the ones that dbpoweramp makes. Like I said mp3tag can fix the issue. Funny enough even it cant read the unicode from dbpoweramp.

Just realized it prints this error for wav files dbpoweramp creates.

The two files, 'my sound life - basic - エンドロール' was written by dbpoweramp, yet it is missing tags, such as artist fully.

Looking in the file there are lyrics tags, which dBpoweramp would not have written?, and 1T_TAGGEDDATE, a tag we do no recognise. Did another program edit the file after ripping? We would need to see a file ripped by you which is not edited by another program.
