I've been using dbPowerAmp for nearly a decade to rip my CDs into flac. It has been great: fast, flexible, useful! But recently (let's say the past year) whenever I launch multiple CD Ripper apps (one for each of my 5 drives) my system becomes super sluggish. The rips appear to be fine and fast. But the computer's UX periodically becomes soooo sluggish:
On my previous rig (i7-6700K, 64Gb RAM, nvidia RTX 5070, Win10, ....). All drives were SATA3 connected. I tried moving them to USB connection only, same problem.
Since then I have assembled a new rig (core ultra 9 285k, 64Gb RAM, RTX 5070, Win11, ...). In this case all drives (same drives) are USB 3.2 connected. I experience the same problem.
Note: using the same drives with makemkv I have no problem ripping 4k, bluray, dvds simultaneously on either rig.
I truly love this product, but this is killing me.
Please tell me I'm not the only one and that there is an easy fix.
Thanks for any help.
- When it happens, it comes in waves. When it starts all UX/all monitors/all apps become nearly unusable. It will last for 5 or 10 seconds or maybe 30-60 sec then stop. Then start again after a several seconds or may take a minute.
- It doesn't always happen. As I was writing this 2 disks were ripping. I just started a 3rd and UX started to crawl again.
- When it happens my mouse pointer jumps inches at time instead of pixel by pixel
- The ripping apps' windows often turn whiteish (white screen of death)
- UX processing across all apps slow to a crawl
- Lots of other really nasty UX problems
