Wow a 10 year old drive?! In that span I have ripped well over 1500 CDs and 809 DVDs. In the process I've burned up at least a half dozen drives. They don't last forever. My favorite was a TDK drive long ago but it died the quickest of all of them.

I’ve tried several cds now, Adele 21, Coldplay, a rush of blood to the head, etc With no luck. The cd drive is unchanged for what must be… 10 years now? I appreciate all of your help. I will in the coming weeks reinstall windows (it’s been a while since I’ve done that so it’s overdue) and let you know what happens. I hope it’s not the cd drive!

Perhaps that CD is not in accuraterip? try a different one. Perhaps your CD drive is changing the Table of Contents so it will never match accuraterip.

ok so I've selected older OS, and chose the option for Windows vista or newer. Same Carpenters - Gold album and it's saying " Not in accuraterip at the bottom of the summary page, but has retrieved metadate from GD3 and Brainbugs. And when ripping it still returns with a cross next to the AR and a tick next to secure.

Any other suggestions? I might try reinstalling windows at this rate and see what happens.

On the download page click 'Old OS' and try an older version. You should uninstall first.

No to both of your question. No change to the pc other than to update the cdripper software to the latest version. (Updated from a 2023 version)

You have no proxy server setup in dbpoweramp? and no VPN being used?

edit: if I also select PerfectMeta (intelligent lookup), when I click alt-m it shows data returned by GD3 and discogs only.

Selecting just those three providers for Carpenters - Gold, does return metadata, however when I click alt-m I can’t see where the data has been returned from. This is a cd I have ripped before.

Uncheck those 2 and check GD3, freedb (archive) and Discogs, then refresh, what metadata is read and from which providers?

    Use an older popular CD.

Ok so I’ve cleared all “active providers” only leaving perfectMeta and acucuraterip meta selected. I cleared meta data that was found previously for the cd and clicked the blue button to rescan the cd and get the data from the internet and it returned with no metadata found and asked me to manually input metadata for the cd.

Yes because one of the lookups is for Perfect META.

I don’t bother with any security other than what is standard in Windows 11. I’m not at the pc, but metadata appears for everything that I’ve tried. I haven’t noticed anything amiss but I can check if that would help.

Possibly a firewall which is restricting it, what security software do you have?

Does metadata work for all providers in CD Ripper?

Apologies I should have stated that the website works from my browser, yes.
