    Errors ripping CD

I have successfully ripped 3 CDs last evening.....today I only get errors.
The app asks me to load a CD, it successfully interrogates the databases and gets track titles, cover art etc.
When I click on RIP CD it takes some time then starts to RIP but after less than 1 second on each track just gives me errors.
I can't see any particular reason given for the error - "Error ripping to FLAC Track 1....etc...."
    Any suggestions ?

The complete error message is :
"Error ripping to FLAC, 'Track 1' to '\\WDMYCLOUD\Derek\Aretha Franklin\Who's Zoomin Who?\01 Aretha Franklin - Freeway of Love.flac'
Error unable to open file '\\WDMYCLOUD\Derek\Aretha Franklin\Who's Zoomin Who?\01 Aretha Franklin - Freeway of Love.flac' for writing. [dEncoder::BeginConversion]
....and the same error messages for every track on the CD.
I had thought that the problem was my WD drive not being ready but I have rebooted it and tried again.
      Thanks in advance

        Hey DGLong,

this error message helps a bit further. The question mark is not allowed in file and directory names. So dBpa can't create the file. Usually the question mark will be substituted by dBpa automatically. Please check your config.

Having checked the error message again I can see that the question mark '?' has in fact been replaced by a character that looks like a question mark upside down......so that can't be the reason for the errors.
          Any other suggestions ?
          Thanks in advance

Can you open the path? Have you write access to that path?

When you first got the NAS you would have setup a password, or it would be some default password.

Yes, I found this suggestion on a Windows 10 forum.....ie set up the network credential with the NAS username and password, but now the dbpoweramp software freezes with a "Not Responding" message.
Is this progress I ask ?
                  Any suggestions ?

This is a very common network issue. You don't have access to the network path in Windows, so dBpoweramp will not be able to access it either.

First, make sure you can access the network path in Windows. You will be asked for the NAS username and password. Enter these details and save the credentials. Once they are saved, dBpoweramp should then have access.

If you do not know the username and/or password, you will not have access to the network resource.

I have entered the WD drive username and password and still no joy. I have also used the Windows option of no network credentials for that drive on the network and dbpoweramp still gives me the same error.
                      Any suggestions ?

Can you provide more info, what does still no joy mean? After entering the username/password, is windows able to access the network resource? Are you able to create a new Network location or mapped drive in Windows?

                          Hey DGLong,

I'm sure your problems are NAS, but not dBpa related. I own a WD MyCloud EX2 myself and can confirm, that ripping to that NAS is no problem. So you have to read the manual of your NAS, understand smb and configure a share, where your dBpa user has write access to. I have assigned drive letters to my WD shares.

                            At last !!
I tried entering the network password and it wouldnt give me access but after I had reset the password and entered it .....no problems.
Looks Ok now, CDs ripping to the NAS drive fine.
Thanks for all your help folks.

Are other people having problems with Windows 11 ?
I recently upgraded my machine and although the software is supposed to be ok for 11 it now refuses to open the file to write each track.
Any suggestions as to how I can "upgrade" my Rip software to work under Windows 11 Professional ?
