I am using a new ASUS BW-16D1X-U external USB CD drive that I just bought.
I decided to do a test and rip 3 CDs. All 3 took forever (I stopped each one after the 3rd song). It will do pass 1 in about 15 seconds and then a re-rip which takes 5 minutes per song. Also, it seems all 3 CDs gave results such as "X AR (5), Secure" or "X AR (200), Secure" or "Accurate" for the songs that finished ripping. Should it take that long?
My settings were Secure, C2 Pointer is on, and I have Ultra Secure turned off. The cache set itself to 75 KB after doing the cache test.
I turned off the C2 Pointer (left the other settings alone), and it ripped each song in about 20 seconds (it took less than 3 minutes for a 12 track CD). All rips said "Accurate (5)" and the CRC was red for one, green for one, and black for the others.
I heard the ASUS drive is bad with C2 pointers and will see errors that don't exist. Should I leave the C2 off? If yes, then should I worry about not getting correct and accurate rips? And are there any other settings I should change (such as turning on Ultra Secure, etc.)?
