Problem with ripping ANY CD

I have used CD Ripper without any serious problem for the past 4 years, currently running on an Imac. 2 days ago i upgraded to version 15.4 and then tried to rip 4 different CDs. Without exception they all failed to rip returning the same error message Screen shot attached, I checked my configuration using Spoon's quick guide and there was no obvious problem, any ideas where I'm going wrong? The CD drive is a fairly new Samsung and seems to be working OK. Thanks for your help with this.

You said new drive seems to be working ok. Can you play a CD using a player (itunes, wmp, foobar2000, etc.) on your computer using that drive?

The drive is playing, iTunes can be copied. There is some inconsistency in the drive, the occasional dropout etc. This may be the problem, thanks for your help, I will investigate further!
