    Stubborn CD

Hi. I have a CD that was copied a long time ago off a download. The files (each track) are in FLAC. Nothing reads when I insert the CD to start ripping it. I saved it to my computer and can see the track files and the cover art file. Any ideas on how to get it to be recognized by the ripper so that I can have all the tags in order and then rip?

If they are FLAC files, it is not an audio CD. You can't "rip" a CD with FLAC files, they have already been converted to a standard data format. You can simply copy the files from the disc to your computer.

Ok. Thanks. So there is no way to get it thru dBpoweramp ripping with all tags (genre, etc.) like all the other regular CDs I've ripped, correct?

No ripping is required. They are already data files, apparently in FLAC format. Just copy them from the disc to a directory on your drive. Like copying from any other folder to folder with Explorer. Any tags that were added when they were created will still be there. If they are not already tagged you will need to use a different tool to look them up or enter them manually. For a single disc the shouldn't take long.

But CD Ripper is not going to do this for you. That program is specifically for ripping PCM audio only from an actual redbook audio cd.

I have it copied on my drive and used the edit to add the tags I need, but not all of it took. So I haven't moved it to the drive that is connected to my Asset UP&P because I do not want to screw up how it would appear among my music collection there. Perhaps I should simply try and see, but hesitant

What tags did you add/edit? And what do you mean "not all of it took?"

I went to Edit Tag in dBpoweramp and added Artist, Album, Year, Genre, Disc, Album Artist, & Composer. But under Title and Track, I followed what the CDs do, abd typed in <different> for both of these. After all that I hit OK. Then went I went to look at it, it was missing the <different> for Title & Track. That's was I meant but it didn't take. Also should mention that I did all of this not under each track, but just for the window that immediately opens up which I believe applies to the entire CD.

                You cannot type <different>, instead:

Select all audio tracks from one CD, right click Edit ID Tags.

Change the items which are static for all the tracks, album name, artist, etc.

Then top right click '>' to move to the individual tracks, where you can then type the Title, Track, press '>' to move to next track.
