Why -- &*12501;&*12449;&*12531;&*12479;&*12472;&*12450 ;

Occasionally I will get strange characters when ripping a cd

for instance
1st. cd of a two part rip was OK
2nd cd of the two part rip I will get this

&*12501;&*12449;&*12531;&*12479;&*12472;&*12450 ;

02 &*12450;&*12540;&*12454;&*12451;&*12531;&*12539;&* 12467;&*12473;&*12479;&*12523; - &*31532;2&*27005;

how do I correct this and why is it happening?

Firstly, I cannot see the data you posted properly, only a string of ampersands, asterisks, semi-colons and numbers. Perhaps you can post a screenshot.

You can correct this by reviewing/editing the metadata before ripping, see the Mata Data section in dBpoweramp CD Ripper

It happens because this is the data obtained from the online metadata databases. When you insert a CD, CDRipper checks the CD and returns data from the 4 online metadata databases providers. You can select/review/edit the data before ripping.

The online metadata databases are far from perfect.

I have attached a picture of the image what I see.

It might be Japanese characters. this was from a 2 disk set of Fantasia , one the meda data was OK the other the strange characters.

I recently had this happen on one other CD
I do realise that I can edit the data, I was just curious as to why
