CD Ripper Title Format

Hi there, I am new to the forum.

I purchased dB Poweramp and use the CD Ripper program, which I need some help with.

When I rip any files they appear in the following "format"

Track Number - Artist - Song Name.

Like so:



Is there a way to set CD Ripper not to do that? I use the files mainly with a Portable DAP (Digital Audio Player) and this format seems to confuse it.

Can I set up to to show

Song Name , and then maybe artist and CD/Album name as additional data?

That way as in the example shown the tracks would be just:

I'm Outta Love instead of Anastacia - I'm Outta Love.

I hope this makes sense.

Most of the time these files are imported into another program such as iTunes or Windows Media Player and then loaded onto the portable player. The program doing the import almost always does not care about the filename but instead pays attention to the tags within the metadata (like ID3 tags in MP3 files) to parse out the artist, song name, album, year, genre, composer, etc.

If you are loading your portable player directly from these files then yes, you may need some very specific file name construction parameters. I'll leave that up to someone more familiar with dBpoweramp to give that advice.

I directly load them onto a MicroSD Card and then the player index is updated.

you can modify the naming scheme.

For the PC version of CD Ripper: If you use a single encoder, click on the "Set" button near the input line "Naming" (lower left corner). If you use multiple encoders each encoder has its own output path and naming scheme, which you can modify.

Additionally as I have ripped a few (more than 10) CD's in the old title format, can anyone recommend a program to re-name them?

use dbpoweramp. select file (or files) then right click on files and select EDIT ID-TAG. Or to move things around in a batch, use batch converter, convert to ID TAG UPDATE DSP and make changes there. Or use mp3tag to do something similar to dbpa tag editing.

EDIT. Sorry, ignore above as that changes tag. for changing file name use the DSP [ARRANGE AUDIO] or use mp3tag and "convert to" tag to filename, and use a mapping to get the filename you want.

I had totally forgotten I had even done this thread! :-(

I had to totally re-install Windows and therefore dBPowerAmp. Following the previous instructions I have changed the file format. Can you just go over how I use dBPowerAmp to do this? Do I use Perfect Tunes? I Purchased that as a bundle when I got the CD Ripper.

I am trying to amend the format of the existing ripped CD's to remove the 01/02/03 numbers from the title.

2. select all the folders you want to modify names within
3. select the "convert" button
4. Choose convert to DSP as [ARRANGE AUDIO]
5. Browse to select the parent directory you want the files to end up in.
6. Click SET next to naming string and enter what you want. For example, if you want things to stay within the same ARTIST, ALBUM subdirectory
[origpath]\[title] - [album] - [artist]
tick the options for "override files" and "remove empty folders"

or you can specify the parent directory and redo folders, such as:
[artist]\[album]\[title] - [album] - [artist]

I tried that but after selecting "convert" I don't have DSP as an option.

Do I need to install something else?

Visit codec central (above) and install the Arrange Audio utility codec, then you can select it in the Convert box.

I have followed that but all the files seem to have vanished

Have I done something wrong?

They are not gone, just moved somewhere on your hard drive. Search your hard drive.
