Forcing tag fields in CD Ripper so I don't have to do it manually

I always have to enter Various Artists in the Album Art field when a disc is a compilation. Can I get that to happen automatically?

Also, I never want 1/1 to show up as a disc number for single CDs, and now I have to remove that each time. Is there a way to only fill that field if it's a multi-disc set?

You would not set Album Artist to 'Various artists' for compilation CDs, most players will take an album artist and base an album off it.
Disc can only be manually removed if only to remove if 1/1 and not 1/2

There are definitely servers/players out there that need albumartist populated, so try DSP > ID Tag Processing > Manipulation > Rule Based Manipulation:
      Code:
      IF compilation=1
      SET albumartist=Various Artists

So what would you recommend for Album Artist for compilations?

Leave blank, most players will detect the compilation flag.

I'm pretty sure (will test later) that Sonos and MiniDLNA both require the albumartist tag to be populated, so from a usage perspectective, "most" is certainly not accurate.

Seems a very odd decision to leave it blank by default.

I stand corrected; the problem with MiniDLNA is that it doesn't use the albumartist tag at all (to group albums), so all Greatest Hits are merged together!

Sonos does require the albumartist tag to be populated and I'm sure there are others too; for example, BluOS.

Thanks. The reason I started doing it was actually PerfetTUNES. When trying to do the album art it would call out each track separately, often leading to a different piece of art for each track. Putting Various Artists in there seem to alleviate that.

Correctly marking the album as compilation will join it together also.

Thanks again. I go through and make sure the compilation flag is checked on all of them. If I do a Batch Converter run with ID Tag Update, do I choose Compilation under Additions just type 'yes'? Or do I use the number one?
