Discs with silent tracks wont load

Greetings to all in DB Forums. I have recently run into an odd issue that I don't remember having before and am hoping it is a setting in the new version update that I am missing. Today I got a bunch of "new" discs. Among them were 2 that had a bunch of 4 second silent tracks. The one disc had about 85 and the other about 50. When I put the discs into the drive they would not load, and dB was "not responding" on Mac so I had to force quit. Both discs looked perfect (I didn't know at this time that there were silent tracks)so I tried a few times. Eventually I loaded the last version of dB from a Time Machine back up, put the disc in and it loaded right away and displayed all the silent tracks, so I was able to deselect them and rip the discs. Can anybody please tell me what I am missing / doing wrong in the new version?

I can't offer any advice with your problem (sounds like a bug), but if you deselect the silent tracks from CD Ripper your rip won't be verified with AccurateRip, so delete/hide them after ripping.

Mmmmm, that is strange, because I got a 100% accurate result after deselecting the silent tracks. On the one disc, with the most silent tracks I did rip them and delete afterwards, the second one I deselected the silent tracks before ripping, and got 100% accurate on all that I ripped. I have also noticed in the past when ripping a disc that, say for example 9 out of 10 tracks ripped accurate and the 10th secure, if I eject the disc, clean it and then rip only the track that was secure the first time, often I get accurate just ripping the one track.

On the bug, do you think that would be on my end or a bug in the new dB version?

I've just tried and you're absolutely right. I might be thinking of an earlier version - or a different software entirely!

I have to assume it's a problem with the new version if it can't, from a default install, cope with short tracks (I wouldn't have thought it's anything to do with the fact they're silent).

Hello Peter, The version that works for me is "Release 2024-11-01 (2)" . The version that is getting stuck and not loading is "Release 2025-05-04 (2)". The discs I think are normal, nothing special. One was "The Stone Roses, Second Coming" and the other was "Sister 7, This Is The Trip", they may be South African pressings but I will look closer tomorrow. The Stone Roses had 12 songs plus another on track 90 and went up to about Track 100, all the tracks from 13 to 100 (except #90) were 4 second silence tracks. On Sister 7 tracks 1 through 11 were songs and another on track 57 the rest also being 4 second silence tracks. It's late here now, but tomorrow I will try again on the new version with internet disabled and let you know how that goes.

Hi Peter, I double checked the Stone Roses disc this morning with internet disabled, and it is the same, the disc won't load and I have to force quit dB to exit the program. I also checked the disc itself and it is a UK pressing.

Can you rip that disc in the old version with full secure logging enabled, we are after the full table of contents of the disc from the log which would help diagnose it with a later version.
