new external optical drive - all errors

I've tried to rip some CDs on a brand new external optical drive, they are recognised but when I try to rip every track gets an error. Is this a windows 11 issue? Or the external CD drive is not getting enough power from the usb socket? It's a Verbatim Blu-Ray DVD-Drive 43888. example error log below.

I can play the disc on the same optical drive in windows media player

That is the error, the location D:\ is not writable (likely it is the the CD drive you are trying to write to)

Ok I have re-set the folder being written to, and now get a different error on all tracks, e.g.

This disc does play in windows media player. I tried ripping in itunes, and again the disc is seen there but ripping produces "empty" (no duration) tracks.

The drive is connected to the rear usb sockets on my pc (in case the front header was the issue)

Try CD Ripper options >> Communication method to Built In (Limited accounts).
