New error ripping discs: unable to open file.

    Hi,

was wondering if someone could shed some light on this example error message:

Error converting to FLAC, 'Track 9'
Error unable to open file '/' for writing. [Begin Conversion]

I have used my Macbook Air with the external Apple Superdrive to rip 100's of CD's and it has just started giving this error message for all discs I try to rip.
I have the most up-to-date version of dBPoweramp and the drive seems to work using other applications so I'm thinking it might be a software issue rather than hardware.
I think the drive is configured correctly in accurate rip.

Many thanks - scratching my head a little

Have you installed any other software, like antivirus/security software, or made any other changes to your setup recently?

Thanks for the quick replies -
Mville - no I haven't installed any other software that I remember or made any other changes.
Spoon - no I haven't sent an e-mail about this

I would recommend you uninstall the software (drag it to the trash can), then reinstall it.

I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it several times - no joy - the error continued. I have even purchased a new optical drive - an ASUS - and exactly the same error code occurs. Any thoughts? I cannot rip anything.

              Hey anb,

tell a bit about your destination path and naming.

Well Dat Ei, looks like you nailed it! I re-inputted the destination path and its all working beautifully! Not really sure how the destination path changed as I did not change it myself but not to worry. Interestingly the Apple Super Drive showed the same error when I connected it to my main desk-top.

Anyways - its all fixed now so thanks! Happy Christmas
