what cd-rom to buy if the good(all green) ones are not available?

Hi! I choose some cd-rom from the DAE Drive Features Database ( daefeatures.co.uk ) and call the agent and go to computer mall to see whether they're available. Nowadays CD-ROMS even DVD-ROMs are not very popular. People tend to buy BD-ROMs. It seems to me the only CD-ROM/DVD-ROM available is Buffalo. Can I just buy Buffalo ? Please advise.

For most people having a drive which can overread is not important, it is not important to me when ripping as I not feel the need to recover the 30 or so samples at the start or end of a disc which are always silence.
