Sometimes When Returning to CD Ripper My Dive is Marked as Unknown

I've noticed that sometimes after I have ripped a CD and gone off and done something else (typically ripped the same CD in iTunes), when I load a new CD and come back to CD Ripper my drive is marked as "Unknown" in the dropdown. I have two drives, so there is a dropdown to select the appropriate drive. The one I'm using with CD Ripper is a USB drive (LG GP65NS60) if that makes a difference. If I select the drive I get prompted to use the disc to configure CD Ripper. However, no matter what disc I use the issue is not resolved and I can't proceed further. The disc is read, but if I try to rip it all tracks fail immediately. I have to exit CD Ripper then reopen it and everything is fine. That's a workaround, but it's annoying as heck. Any ideas on what might be going on or if there is a way to resolve the "Unknown" drive issue without having to exit and reopen the app?

Just a wild guess, but is there something in your computer "power profile" which shuts down the drive or your USB ports if it is unused after some period of time? Probably best if you give a little more detail about whether you are using a PC or a Mac, what operating system etc? My first suspicion is that this has more to do with something, possibly of the "energy saving" type, to do with your computer than with the ripper itself.

My apologies for not providing more detail. I remembered to put in details about the drive, but forgot to provide any information about what sort of device I was running CD Ripper on. I'm using an Intel-based PC running Windows 10. I don't know if anything else about the device would be helpful.

At first when I read the reply it made sense that maybe the PC was shutting down the drive, but then there were some things that weren't adding up. One, the time to shut down would have to be somewhat short. I don't seem to have that issue when I go into iTunes if I wait after ripping from CD Ripper before going to rip a different file type there. Another thing is that I have just put in a new disc that I plan to rip using CD Ripper. When I close the tray that wakes up the drive. Unless you are saying that once the drive goes to sleep it is totally disconnected from CD Ripper and the software cannot reconnect without restarting? I'd also need to pay closer attention to the specifics, but I believe in some cases I have just finished ripping in iTunes so the drive would not have been shutdown by the OS before going back to CD Ripper. I did check my power settings and nothing stands out. My power plan is "Balanced". I looked at the specifics on my PC and Sleep after is set to Never. Allow wake timers is set to Enable. USB selective suspend setting is set to Disable. Is there another setting that I should look at?

      I'm at a loss.
