This wouldn't put the disc number in front of track number. But I don't recommend it. As if you have a two disc album and disc 1 is the tracks with original mix and disc 2 is tracks with re-mix, but the track titles are the SAME, then when you rip disc 2, it will overwrite track 1 from the first disc.

In my own case, using my naming string I provided you earlier, it only uses disc number if it is 2 or higher. If I have a single disc CD, I leave the disc number BLANK when ripping rather than putting "1" there. This way, for single disc albums, I only see track numbers and not 1.01, 1.02, etc.
And yes, always check whether the COMPILATION box needs ticking (or unticking) before ripping. Also check that Disc box is blank for single CDs.
I have many dozens of HDCD discs. Mostly Grateful Dead. Many of these don't even use HDCD features like PE, so they don't need any special treatment. But even the ones that do use PE feature and should matter don't really sound that different to me, my old ears, my system, etc. So after testing some known HDCDs that should matter, and they didn't for me, I abandoned any attempt to do anything special with HDCDs. But if I ever change my mind, I can always convert my rips to HDCD with dbpa converter.
Have fun!
