    CD Ripper refuses to open

Just bought and downloaded the full package. CD Ripper worked once, and now refuses to open.

I'm using Windows. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Music Converter and Batch Coverter both open, but when I click CD Ripper it doesn't do anything.

Windows 10 Pro, and nothing that should be preventing it from opening. As I said, it opened right after installing and I ripped one CD. Then it closed and now it won't reopen, but Music Converter and Batch Coverter both do

Run this and choose the option to clear all settings:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

This will put the program back to a initial install state when you reinstall it.

I ran the reset. I ripped one item, then the program closed itself, and wouldn't reopen. I ran the reset again and it wasn't doing anything.

So I uninstalled the program and restarted my computer, ran the reset, and then reinstalled it. Once again it worked one time. I ripped one CD, then it shut itself down.

Now when I click the icon I get a message that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to view this item"

It's only CD Ripper that won't open. Music Coverter and Batch Converter both do.

Something is stopping access to the program, CD Ripper does not close its self.

Restart windows in 'Safe mode with networking' that will ensure no security software is running to stop CD Ripper:

I tried restarting in safe mode and it was wanting to scan something and was taking forever and I had to stop it because I don't have time to wait for it at the moment. But what am I supposed to do when it enters safe mode?

If you are using Windows 11 and have Windows Defender set to enable Controlled Folder Access under the Ransomware Protection option, I suggest that you check under Windows Defender Protection History to see if there are any entries there which when opened show CD Ripper etc.. If you find them, click on the Actions Tab and choose the Allow/Always Allow option then retry CD Ripper.

I know that I had to allow a few such entries so that CD ripping etc would work but don't remember the error or software behavior that I saw (close vs error vs hang).
