Individual Track Dates when ripping compilations

    Hi
I finally paid up and i now have - almost- the full suite including music converter and CD ripper.

I am re-ripping to higher quality a lot of my older CDs and a few are compilations.

The Comipaltion tickbox works a treat but i tends to add the same date to all the tracks. If the CD was released in 2014, it will add 2014 even if the songs were from the 80's.

Is there a setting or another way to autimaticaly populate the actual date the tracks were released in this case as i set up a 2010s smart playlist the other day in PlexAmp and 70's songs were coming up!

Maybe Roon can handle that better? Not sure.

The YEAR tag field is typically the release date of the album itself. Using different years for each track can cause issues with some players. There is a different field ORIGYEAR that may be better suited for indicating the release year for each track on a compilation but this isn't something that will likely be filled automatically.

Hi - sorry for revisiting an older thread of mine but better than starting a new one - there must be a way to somehow add the track date somewhere on the Tags as otherwise a 'Best of 60's' compilation released in 2005 will come up as a 2005 song! Hpw do people go about creating playlists of say 'play the best of the 2010s' for example. I am using PlexAmp and i am coming across that issue.

      Any thoughts?

See GBrown response above yours. You can manually add whatever date you want to the track tags (use YEAR or ORIGYEAR). That should be easy. Whether your player (plexamp) recognizes that date is up to the player. Some do and some don't.
