    Strange metadata lookup results

I have recently received a collection of CDs containing old jazz recordings reissued on the Marshall Cavendish label. I had long ago ripped my own CDs to FLAC using dbPoweramp v16.2. For the new job I upgraded to the latest version (2024-11-04) and proceeded to rip the 80 discs.

In the process there were several occasions where a completely different CD recording would appear under one of the metadata sources, usually GD3.

For example, catalog MC "JAZZ CD 067 - Buddy Berigan - You've Got Everything", shows up correctly on AccrateRip Meta, Musicbrainz, Discogs, and Freedb whilst GD3 gives the recording as "Glenn Miller - American Patrol". Looking up American Patrol on Discogs I found a match for label "Past Perfect (2) – 204279-202". Why would that happen? What information is used to index all these CDs?

Track lengths, there are many collisions in the databases, that is why we use as many providers as possible to allow a manual selection should a miss-match happen.
