Updates for two years only?

I like this product. I used it a few months ago for a small project. And am thinking about purchase. But it's $48 USD and only includes 2 years of updates? I don't expect support forever, but 2 years is not a long time considering the price you pay. Is there an option for an annual subscription, either for CD Ripper only or for the entire package? I don't have much need for image or video tools. But if video ripping lets me rip DVD or Bluray to an iPhone, it could be worth the money.

If I pay today will the version I get now keep working in 2 years or 5 years, assuming the same version of Windows? Is it a forced upgrade?
