    Naming path

dBpoweramp Release 2024-09-30 on macOS (13.7)

    Currently my naming syntax is:

    Code:
    [album]\CD[Disc]\[track] - [title]

Name:	current naming.png
Views:	143
Size:	95.1 KB
ID:	328630

    which works perfectly. But…

how do I produce a single listing (without the ‘CD n’) when there is only one CD please?

In other words all tracks in the same ('root') directory… I've tried fiddling with the IF statements but with no success.

      Thanks, Gary!

So if I'm not ripping a box set - and so if I don't have the Disc field at the top set to 'x/y' etc - it will only output a list of everything in the main Album folder?

And the syntax is that the addition of CD [disc] is enclosed by [IFMULTI] []; Yes?

Thanks again, Gary! Works perfectly. Much appreciated!

Is there an FAQ or docs page which explains how to 'manage' this Naming part of CD Ripper, please; for the macOS version?

So far, for example, I haven't managed to create a new Naming string; have to keep editing/amending existing ones.

I'm mostly just a trial and error guy. I play around with the naming string to get what I want (which is easy as you see on the page what the program will do).

But see this. You should also get to this help from the naming popup box by clicking on the "i" inside the circle. This will get you to more help on all the functions of the program on almost any page. (at least in the windows version).

Also see here for the menu to all the help pages with links to more detailed help pages:

p.s. This is the naming string I've used for years. It automatically deals with compilations (you may want to change that to "Various Artists" from "Compilations" in the string), multidisk, single disk, ARTIST vs ALBUM ARTIST, etc.

            [MAXLENGTH]240,[IFCOMP]Compilations\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title] - [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title][][]

note, at least in the past, for Mac you had to replace all those back slashes with forward slashes.

I may be completely wrong - but I don't see that on the Mac version.

Not the end of the world - I love dBpoweramp so much and,, like you, I quit enjoy trying and (more often that not!) erroring :-)

Yes, I'm familiar with those help pages, thanks.

What they don't tell me (or, at least, if they do I've failed to find it) is how to actually manage the Naming String themselves; I have quite a few with which I've experimented over the years.

But I'd like to actually delete some, and give meaningful names to the others etc.

              Thanks again :-) !

In windows you delete those out of the REGISTRY. No clue about a Mac.

Yes; thanks, Gary. It must likely be something similar - in ~/Library/Application Support, or …Containers.

It'd be useful to know how to do this without compromising the installation.

                    They're in ~/Library/dBpoweramp/XRegistry in a JSON file
