Common problems with USB disc drives (Verbatim/Pioneer, read this first)

If you're having trouble (error messages, bad output) ripping discs using USB drive, please first make sure that your drive is getting enough power via its USB connector.

To do so, connect the drive using a powered USB hub, rather than directly to your computer. Or use USB Y-cable to power the drive from two USB ports.

We have found some recent optical drive models - Verbatim/Pioneer USB drives in particular - to behave erratically when connected directly to a computer (PC or Mac), using original cable that came with the drive, but produce good output after adding a powered USB hub.

A typical error might appear as:

    CDDA read incomplete, LBA:445, frames:10, reading:23520, got:23040 [RipAudioInternal]

Windows 11 and certain motherboards are not able to rip audio from certain drives, see:

I am a long time user of the dbpoweramp CD Ripper, have been using it trouble free on an old Intel based system running Windows 10 with a Pioneer BDR-208DBK drive. I never previously had any issues with inaccurate rips. I built a new AMD based system recently, which is running Windows 11, but with the same Pioneer BDR-208DBK
