If lossless is lossless why the need for a 0-8? So does 0 make a smaller footprint in size than 8 or uncompressed? Just wondered why so many choices if the output is the same. What for example would be the benefit for choosing 8 over 0 which apparently will rip the CD fasted accomplishing the same results.

All settings uncompress exactly the same, just the effort which goes into compressing, can give smaller file sizes.

All lossless no matter what. All about file size. 8 smaller than 0. More ‘effort’ (longer) to compress to smaller size (eg 8) but only once upon file creation. Decoding makes essentially no difference.
