Use DB Cover Art Utility without CD?

I have a good number of older rips that are missing cover art in Media Center. For some of these, I insert the CD and then use the cover art utility in CD Ripper to find the best art available and then copy and paste to Media Center. Media Center has little to no functionality to search for new cover art.

Is it possible to use the cover art utility in DB to find missing cover art if the CD is lost? I see that there is a search function within the cover art utility that can be customized but it looks like a CD must first be inserted before it can be used.

You should try PerfectTunes. Another program by the creator of dbpoweramp. It can search for and update album art and many other things.

I use the dBpoweramp tag editor that comes with the CD ripper and music converter. At the bottom you can select 'Choose From Internet'. It doesn't always find the exact same art that the CD ripper finds, but that's usually because I have renamed the artist or album.
