    Registered App Producing Different Results from Trial Version

    Hi All,

    I used the trial app for a couple of weeks and never had a single issue. I was so impressed, I purchased the registered version long before my free trial was up.

    However, I am now finding problems that I did not have on the trial version, using the exact same settings and exact same CD Drives. Going back and re-ripping CD which I ripped successfully on the trial version now throw errors or give other problems (e.g., missing metadata) on the registered version. Below are the details.

    Problem # 1:

    The most common error I am getting is "Chunk is out of file." EVERY CD I have ripped on the registered version has AT LEAST one track which throws that error--and re-ripping those tracks EVENTUALLY cures the problem (I don't understand how/why re-rips give different results... but that's another topic!).

    The one thing I have noticed that is different in behavior between the trial and registered versions is that in the trial version, I'd often see where the app would make multiple passes on a track, but I have never seen the registered version make more than a single pass on a track. Since multiple re-rips of a track seem to "fix" problems, and the trial version did it automatically, but the registered version does not, I can see that as the reason I never saw errors in the trial, but I am seeing A LOT of errors now.

    Problem # 2:

    I do multiple encoder rips: AIFF, FLAC, and MP3. For some reason, the metadata (Tags) on AIFF are often missing or corrupted, where the metadata for MP3 and FLAC from the same rip are complete and correct. If I re-rip, one track at a time, I will eventually get both a successful rip (no "chunk" errors) and good metadata. (Using PerfectTUNES ID Tags to manually inspect/verify tags.)

    I have seen other users post about issues with AIFF tags under different circumstances, but I have never seen a solution posted.

    Problem # 3:

    If I rip a CD in one drive and it throws some errors, then later move it to a different drive, cd ripper reports that ALL tracks have been accurately ripped, even when previously no output was produced for some tracks. Moving a CD to a different drive requires I either manually select tracks to rip, or re-rip the entire CD (and probably lose a good track to a new "chunk" error).

    Problem # 4:

    I have CD's set to eject on accurate rips. Ripping in a multiple (2) drive setup (using File-->Rip from multiple drives), CD ejection is erratic (polite term). When a CD completes an accurate rip:
    a) Sometimes it ejects properly (~50%)
    b) Sometimes it never ejects automatically, and must be manually ejected using the app (drive is locked and its ejection button disabled)
    c) Sometimes it waits to eject a CD until the other drive has also completed, but only 1 of the 2 CDs gets ejected (seems random as to whether first or last finished is ejected)
    d) Sometimes it EJECTS THE WRONG CD, killing the rip that was in-progress on the other drive.
    e) Sometimes the app's eject button is disabled, even though the rip has successfully completed and the drive has spun down. Sometimes the menu-bar's eject button will eject the drive under these circumstances and sometimes it won't. When the menu bar won't eject the CD, sometimes quitting the app will allow it to eject the cd, and other times I have to disconnect the drive and reconnect it to be able to eject the cd.

    Problem # 5:

    MacOS's spinning beach-ball of death. A couple of times a day, the app hangs... and even leaving it over night fixes nothing. I have some macOS spindumps I can send if they would help.

    Summary:

    Of all of these issues, the one I am really hoping you can tell me how to fix in the registered version to automatically make multiple passes on a track like the trial version did, so I don't spend all my time re-ripping manually. I'd also like to see the AIFF metadata problem fixed, but I highly suspect that's a software bug I can't fix with a configuration change.

    P.S. And thanks for the best CD ripper I have ever found! Despite "issues," it is hands-down the best CD ripper I have ever seen and automates so much of the B.S. associated with ripping CDs. I found the app because "something" (macOS, SMB, NAS??) corrupted my >400 CD music collection, and I am stuck with re-ripping my entire library again. dBpoweramp and your supporting utilities have been a God-send! Thanks again for the great apps!

    A spinning wheel is something at a very low level locking up the OS, it could be a network share, try various things to simplify the ripping, rip to local ssd drive.

    Rip with only one CD drive attached at a time.

    Do a full reboot of the system, The trial and registered versions are identical bar a few lines to check registration, it is 100% likely the trial would have issues now which are outside of CD Ripper.
