reference trial expired - does not convert into free version

My reference trial on new Win11 has computer has expired. Should it convert now to a free version like it used to in the past?
I keep getting the popup, I am unable to use it reinstall has not helped.

You must be using part of the program which needs Reference? such as the mp3 encoder?

During trial I was using CD Ripper with mp3 but I do not need it, I would be happy ripping to opus.
Is there anything I can do now to switch over to the free version?

Just looked the code path will not run anymore unless registered. You can install an older version, visit archive.org and browse dBpoweramp.com from 5 years back.
