    Substitute New Metadata?

Is it possible to download new metadata to replace previous metadata without re-ripping CD?s I would like to improve some rips with alternate metadata.

OK, I did not know thanks.
I have used MP3Tag for years to tag my audio files.
Even though the name starts with MP3 I have not found a file type that MP3Tag cannot add, delete, and update metadata tags.
It has an option to update metadata but I have not used it.

I have always used the same method of updating my files when I rip the CD or download a new file.
My way of saying - test it first before committing.

100% agree. It's THE best way to change, clean up, and complete your metadata. In my experience, this is almost always necessary because the online databases are so hit-or-miss.

I immediately submit all my rips to mp3Tag, where I check for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. I get all of that done before I move the files to my NAS, so I never have to go back and fix things later.
