    Problem

    Hello,

I am using the latest version of dbPoweramp. Downloaded last night. Either I am not understanding an upgrade feature or there is a malfunction in the new upgrade.

What I am finding is that when I go into Options>MetaData & ID Tag>Options>Add Custom Tag .... that none of what I try to assign to the custom tags link up in my "Meta Data for All tracks" list, even when I refresh. I have done this for years.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

    Re: Problem

You have to click the metadata button to reread the data from the internet, which will then add your custom tag.

If you are doing this, try going back to that options page, does your custom tag still appear?

      Re: Problem

Thank you this worked for me.

I have run into an additional problem and it's more complex I think (I hope I can explain it right)

For a long time now I have set up my folder view so that the Folder name reads back with the conductor's name followed by the year of the recording and the record label.

For instance the way I catalog multiple versions of the same work would read like this:

      [Tag]ComposerSort[]/[Genre]\[Album]\[Artist] ([Tag]Comment[])\[Track *]. [Title]

So in one case it may read back like this

Beethoven, Ludwig van\SYMPHONY\No. 5 in C minor (Op. 67)\Karajan; Berlin Philharmonic (1963 Deutsche Grammophon)\01. Allegro con brio

When I use my music player it typically shows up in the menu in this exact way except that the "Berlin Philharmonic" is eliminated when browsing. However when I play the track back it will show me Karajan/Berlin Philharmonic as the complete artist name.

      I like this!

However since switching to the most updated version of CD ripper this is not what has been happening.

Instead it shows me "Karajan (1963 Deutsche Grammophon)" as the artist when file browsing, but when playing a file it shows the complete artist name only as "Berlin Philharmonic" completely eliminating Karajan from the artist name. When I look up the ID3 tag, the designation of "Karajan" is still there. The only way for me to fix this is to go to music converter and re-rip every file. This never happened in the past with previous CD ripper versions.

If you understand what it is I am asking, how can I fix this?

Right click on one of the tracks >> Edit id tags

and see how the tags appear.

The tags look fine, nothing unusual.

Compare the tags to a file you know works looking for differences.

Yes I've done this. There is no difference.

I've converted the exact file to mp3. There's no difference in the tags at all. The MP3s function normally.

In your MP3s, are you writing ID3 v.2.3 tags or ID3 v.2.4 tags?

Does your player support ID3 v.2.3 tags or ID3 v.2.4 tags?

Hmm, I'm not sure, but how would I revert to ID3 v2.3 if I needed to?

                  Thanks

dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs >> Advanced Options >> mp3 ID Tagging

I'm not sure if this is where the problem lies, but it is worth checking as multi-value tags are handled differently for both ID3 v.2 versions. Try changing the version on a single (backed up) album.

On what music player are you seeing this problem?

Do you have a music player on your PC, which accesses your audio library? If yes, do you see the same problem?

At this time I don't. I'm using a brand new computer, haven't yet downloaded foobar.

I haven't been able to fix this problem. i have matched up all configuration settings with my version of 14.4 on a different computer but it just doesn't do the same thing.

Is there a way I can go back to the 14.4 Release version?

                            Thanks

Sorry, I would like to help, but post no. 3 is too vague for me. I am guessing about where you are seeing the strings you have provided i.e. Windows Explorer, CDRipper, the AK240 etc. I am just not sure.

Are you even using a Windows PC?

Also, you didn't answer my question in post no. 8.
