    Using the proper ARTIST field in MusicBrainz

    Hi,

    One thing I find increasingly annoying in CD Ripper is that, when retrieving metadata from MusicBrainz, it reads artist data from the ARTISTS field rather than the ARTIST field. The result is that, when multiple artists are credited, they are just joined by a semicolon, rather than whatever joiner is specified in the actual artist field (e.g. "&", "Feat."...)

    Artist A feat. Artist B --> Artist A; Artist B

    Is this ever going to be fixed or is it an actual design choice?

    Thanks!

    R.

    This is by design, if you have an audio track with has 2 artists:

    artist1; artist2

    then you want as above, not artist1 feat. artist2

    because dBpoweramp will write the 2 artists correctly for the tagging format, so if later on you get a player which reads multiple artists correctly you will find the 2nd artist searchable.

      OK, I accept that. That is definitely not what I want though (I do want "artist1 feat. artist2", that's how I want it displayed in my player, collection, etc.). I'll continue correcting the tags manually (or with MusicBrainz Picard). A suggestion for a future release would be to make this user-configurable.

      Thanks!
