Mac CD Ripper - dbpoweramp questions

I have used dbpoweramp for Windows, for many years - since there was no Mac version. Now that there is a Mac version, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Is the Mac demo limited to ripping just one track? When I went to rip a CD only one track got ripped, even though the program appeared to be ripping all of the tracks.

    2. Is there any discount for those of us who have already purchased dbpoweramp for Windows?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    1. No, check the filenames, you are using default naming?
    2. Yes there is a 50% discount to switch to mac if you have an R15 Reference license, log in here to see the offer: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/registration/

As far as I know I am using "default naming". I haven't changed any settings related to naming.

I just tried to rip a couple of tracks again. And the same thing happened, only the first track shows up in the Finder, even though CD Ripper shows the progress and successful ripping of two other tracks. They are even verified by AccurateRip.

But now I've notice something even weirder ... The name of the one track that is written is not the name of any of the tracks on the CD, but the name of the album itself! However, when I listen to the track, it is one of the tracks on the CD - the last one that was supposed to be written.

      Crazy ...

      Thanks for the discount!

Try deleting the existing files before ripping then you can be sure that what is being ripped is being written, open a window in finder and leave it open so you can watch the files appear as they are ripped.

There is definitely some weirdness with Mac CDRip and naming. When using Multi-Encoder, the main "rip location" should be ignored, but the ripper creates an empty folder (according to the settings you choose). The actual ripped / encoded files land in the correct folders, but the additional empty folder tree that gets created is kind of confusing at first.

            OK, here's what happens:

First Ripper creates a Folder with name of the Album.

Inside that folder Ripper creates a jpg for the album art: "Folder.jpg

Then it creates the first track of the CD - not with the title of the first track, but the title of the CD: "Out Of The Blue.aif"

(I listened & confirmed this is the first track of the CD.)

Then Ripper creates a temp file of the next track of the CD: Out Of The Blue.aif.tmp.aif

But since this has the name of the Album also, when Ripper is done ripping this track it automatically replaces the previous track with this second track.

(I also listened to this track & confirmed it is the second track.)

And on it goes until the last track is ripped - leaving only one track (the last track of the CD & the jpg of the album art).

            Challenging, for sure ...

Just to make sure I did the rip using dbpoweramp in Windows using Parallels for the Mac.

                It ripped perfectly.

                Hmm ...

You have the encoder set to AIFF? or multi-encoder with AIFF?

as a test set the encoder to just mp3 (Lame).

Well, things just got more complicated.

When I went to rip the CD in mp3 Lame I got the error:

"Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'Track 1' to '/Users/Bill/Music/dbpoweramp test/Out Of The Blue.mp3'
mp3 Encoder trial has expired, purchase mp3 License to continue encoding to mp3."

Is there a temporary way around this expired trial limitation, since I'm not too sure I want to commit to this version if we can't resolve this situation?

Glad to do what I can to discover this potential 'bug' for you.

                      Bill

No need, it can be seen the filename is wrong also, if you click set next to naming, what is the exact string listed under naming? copy and paste it here please.

OK, I owe you an apology, somewhere along the line I must have set Naming to "Album" - thinking that would change the folder hierarchy to Album > list of tracks, rather than Artist > Album > list of tracks (a format I don't like).

Once I "reset" Naming to "default" everything works fine.

Sorry to have put you through all this, when the issue was mine from the very beginning ...
