Bought one off Ebay. Says was new. Didn't come with software, but tried to make it work anyway. No luck with Windows 7 so went back to XP. Everything shows up in Device Manger and the drive shows up under My Computer. Problem is when I insert a CD it just freezes up in dbpoweramp. I tried Windows Media Player and it doesn't see anything. Occasionally when I select it in My Computer it will display the audio files from the CD but when I go to open it freezes up. thinking a problem with the unit I bought? any ideas?

No need to double-post the same issue in different threads..
That unit is very old technology....I don't know how much support Sony still offers. I seriously doubt that you will be able to use it as a ripping drive with dBpoweramp. As you say, Windows doesn't even recognize it anymore.
